The American marten, also known as the pine marten, is a weasel-like mammal with a slender body, long bushy tail, and dark brown fur. They are found in northern wooded regions from Alaska to Newfoundland and Labrador. The fur colour can range from yellowish to brown to near black, and they have a pale or buff throat and chest patch.
